John the Baptist is a key figure in the Biblical stories of Jesus of Nazareth. According to the Gospels, John's role was to announce the coming of Jesus: in John 1:23 he tells interrogators, "I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord.'" According to Matthew 3:4, he wore clothing made of camel's hair and ate locusts and wild honey, and baptized people in the river Jordan. (It was after being baptized by John that Jesus was led to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.) John later was executed by the ruler Herod; as told in Matthew chapter 14, Herod granted the demand of Salome to "give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter."
In the Catholic Church, his feast day is June 24th... John the Baptist is a different person from the apostle John, for whom the Gospel of John is named... In speaking of Jesus, John said: "I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the holy spirit"... According to Luke, John was the son of Zechariah (or Zachary) and his wife Elizabeth, a relative of Jesus' mother Mary, and was born roughly six months before Jesus.
Virgin Beach Resort has a stutue of San Juan Bautista (John the Baptist) near the sea for several reasons. First, he is the patron saint of Virgin Beach Resort. Many baptisms have taken place here in the sea by the Malbago Christian Fellowship nearby and we thought it appropriate to make this statue.

this place gives me a lot of FIRST-TIMES! ...the zipline experience is the best! its not like every resort in the city has this amenity, so the 2hour ride from the city is soooooooooo worth it!...PLUS!the pool---its so enticing you just cant resist it!hehehe ...the ambiance is so PINOY which is ironic for the owner is actually a foreigner,,yet you can still say "I belong" ;) ....the BEST resort ive been into yet...people are so nurturing and hospitable! expectations met and exceeded more tan 100x fold! I had a great time in my stay in VBR. I would say that it's best asset is the service and the heart you see in the place. I met UNCLE RON and his staff. They were all so caring and accomodating. (as cliche as it may sound)You really can feel that it's the home away from home. Will come back soon with my dslr to capture more magic moments. Ü

Ronaldo...
Nice website and what an amazing transformation of your resort. When Ninfa and I were there many years ago it was quite primitive. Wow, what a change. I am very happy for you.
My wife and I have bought a home in Green Valley, AZ and are now someowhat closer to you. We expect to visit the PI in March and will contract you for tickets and reservations for the new and improved resort.
Sincerely,
Rick Manuel

Wow. Lovely views at this beach. I'm from Davao and there are also lovely beach resorts there. I've been staying in Cebu for three years and currently staying now in Mactan. I'm still trying to visit and explore the many beautiful beaches and islands here in Cebu.
Nice resort. Keep it up and more Power! -

What a great ,out of the way, place to relax, recharge, explore, and be taken care of! I have seen Virgin Beach Resort grow from infancy to the oasis it is today. My best simple memories are: experiencing the day turn to night from the pool, the best view while enjoying breakfast, karaoke with neighbors, occasional fiestas, the simple quietness allowing me to hear the sway of the banana tree leaves, lots of great food and attentive staff, experiencing the "province", walking far outside the property, etc., etc... It's always sad when it's time to leave! Definitely check it out!

I've been to Virgin Beach Resort 3 times now and can highly reccommend it to others. Prices are reasonable, food is great (large portions) at bargain prices for a resort! Staff is very good also. Really enjoyed the swimming pool with water slide and riding horseback. Keep it up VBR and more power!

I cant say anything but WOW..
First, I admire how everything started especially about the love story of the Perry family. More blessings and happy moments to come to your family.
Second, I like the place, even just by watching on the net, seems quite peaceful and safe place to stay for vacation. Wish I could see the beautiful place in the near future.
Suggestions: Improve and developed more landscapes though it looks good already. hehehehe...
I wish you have a lot delegates in your resort... -

Time at Virgin Beach
Virgin Beach Blog
Greetings from Virgin Beach Resort Cebu. Please check here daily for a new blog about Virgin Beach Resort, The Philippines, Cebu and any interesting related subjects about our unique place.
MALAPASCUA ISLAND, DAANBANTAYAN, CEBU, PHILIPPINES
Cebu, the Queen City of the South boasts nothing but the best of what the nature has to offer. From exotic diving spots, to white sandy beaches with unblemished sea waters, it gives you a clear picture of how good our Mother Nature is.
Being a long, narrow island of about 225 kilometers, stretching from north to south and surrounded with 167 neighboring small islands, Cebu is one bounty island of beaches, caves, jungles and many natural attractions that leaves one in pure amazement.
One pride of Cebu is the Malapascua Island, one of the islands where colorful and one-of-the-kind corals and different species of other marine lives thrive in crystal clear Visayan waters either in blue or in green shades.
Located in the northern part of province, it is an island part of Daan Bantayan, just 8 kilometers off the coast of the mainland Cebu. This elfin island is only 3 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide, with population more or less 3,000 residents. One can encircle the entire island in less than a day. Situated at the center of the archipelago, it attracts majority of the tourists, may it be foreign or local day trippers.
This hidden paradise is not an outlandish tourist spot. Rather, it is rated as one of the best beaches and diving spots in the world, with lots of things to discover and surprises your very thoughts. Dubbed as the “Pacific Island Dream”, it is best for people who wanting to take a break from their outgoing lifestyles and, of course for those nature lovers who want adventures and exciting escapades. Malapascua Island is the best recommendation.
Unknown to many, this enchanting place is the projection of total opposition of what Malapascua literally means. Accordingly, Malapascua derived its name from “Malapacual”, which means “Malas Sa Pasko” or when translated to English, it connotes “Unfortunate Christmas”. It is supposed to be a happy celebration when the Spaniards reached the shores on Christmas day. Alas, a storm struck the island and the folks termed it “malas”. And so the name stuck.
The island is sometime termed as “Logon”, the main community of the island. During World War II, Japanese and American forces fought over the island thus got its name “Logon”.
Despite harsh memories of the past, Malapascua evolved into something spectacular. Aside from the waters and naturalistic beauty of creations, sunset is one enchanting spectacle. Away from the city noise and crowded streets, one shall obtain the long-envisage tranquility of mind and spirit.
Blessed with long beaches of fine white sand, Malapascua is the best rival of
Boracay, the famed summer retreat. But unlike the touristy Boracay, you relish the goodness of nature in every bit of it without the discomfort of looking a peaceful nook for you to relax. As soon as you stepped into this heavenly domicile, you can immediately submerge yourself into sunny goodness or shade under the palm trees and lulled to sleep by the cooling breeze of sea air.
As for the divers, there is no time for you to be despondent. You can go diving or snorkeling and witness the underwater charm of Malapascua Island.
New things are waiting to be discovered: the colorful corals, the diversity of marine animals in abundance and even the sunken Japanese ship at the break of World War II is very irresistible.
But what makes Malapascua a real, exciting diving spot in the world?
As we all know, Philippines is an abode of many strange things in the deep. And if fortunate enough, divers can catch a glimpse of world’s famous Manta Rays and Thresher sharks in regular basis. The latter which is almost extinct in kind lives in deep waters but appears in Monad Shoal for cleaning by a cleaner fish. This is one of the few places where you can spy these tamed animals in an incredible close-up view for about 23 meters downward.
Away from the mainland, a trip by boat is the most possible transportation. No vehicles, no roads, very simple yet appreciative. And if you’re lucky enough, your trip will be accompanied by the school of dolphins. The trip will take 30-40 minutes before reaching the Bounty Beach.
So, instead of spending much for a quality vacation, why not try the scuba diving offered in Malapascua Island. Satisfaction is very much guaranteed. Whether you are visiting Cebu for personal or business reasons, be sure to tour yourselves in the breathtaking island view of Malapascua Island and its underwater delight.
